The religion brought by Jesus cannot be reduced to external rites, a moral code or a doctrine. No law, big or small, has meaning if it is not accompanied by love and if it is not consumed in love.

In celebrating the Eucharist, we renew the covenant between God and human beings, a covenant fully realized in the mutual self-giving that the Eucharist embodies, and we are nourished to answer the challenge: ‘Whom will you serve?

Just as God nourished and provided for Elijah on his journey, He nourishes and provides for us as well.

Our deepest hunger has a bread that truly satisfies us, a bread that fulfils our hearts.

Imagine if we could always come to Mass with the consciousness that here we have a privileged encounter with God. That is what the celebration of the eucharist is.

In the busyness and stresses of our daily lives, we are invited to go to the Shepherd-King, a compassionate Good Shepherd, who will give us healing and rest.

As Christians, we are called to live as missionary disciples and transform the world around us. Our actions and way of life must reflect our faith.

Today we are called to acknowledge that God is present in our everyday lives, and that he is working for our good and our salvation. We are called to conversion. To believe that a life of radical holiness is possible for us today, starting with the reading of these Scriptures. Jesus can do this for us.

We merely bump up against Jesus instead of touching him with faith when we approach him half-consciously, our minds fixed on other things. Rather, like the woman, we can come to Jesus, determined to touch him personally.

Have you ever truly been terrified, fearing illness, death, or humiliation? Perhaps your past causes you anxiety and shame. Jesus will not leave us at the mercy of the storm.

In this life, we walk by faith and not by sight, and our small steps of faith and expressions of love are valuable seeds. They germinate and grow into greater things in the Kingdom of God.

Can we step out of the places of hiding, of fear and low self-esteem, out of the individualism and partitioning of our lives, to allow God’s saving work into our lives and to allow God to use us in his saving work in each other’s lives.

To receive the Eucharist is to receive the whole of the Bible in single mouthful.

In the Trinity, the Father is the one who loves, he is the Lover; the Son is the one who is loved, he is the Beloved; and the Holy Spirit is the love they have for each other. Today we are called to enter into this divine exchange and share in the life of God, the love of the Trinity.

The Holy Spirit want us to know that we are loved beyond measure, that God wants to bring healing to the parts of our lives of which cannot speak.

The Ascention marks a pivotal moment transitioning from the earthly mission of Jesus to the inception of the Church's mission, directed by Jesus from heaven. It is a call to action for all believers to participate actively in the Church’s mission.

To allow ourselves to experience God’s love takes discipline and intention on our part. Our lack of self-esteem, our woundedness, our busyness, and the many distractions of life, can dull our experience and sensitivity to God’s loving presence.

Apart from Jesus, we can do nothing. We cannot produce the fruit that God expects from us if we are not connected to Jesus, the vine.

Jesus, the Good Shepherd, knows us intimately, and wants to establish a direct and personal relationship of intense love with each one of us. Jesus also says that his sheep know him. Can we say we really know him? He is the Good Shepherd but are we good sheep?
